Many individuals, parties and organizations approach the Department of Islamic Studies for advice and clarity about Islamic legal position on questions of diverse nature about family matters (nikah, talaq, mirath) and contemporary issues mainly caused by technological advancements and globalization with the aim to get rid of their uncertainty. The Department has an expert team to provide juristic position on such questions. The questions received under this part of the website will be forwarded to the Ifta Cell for appropriate answers. It however should be understood that a fatwa is a non-binding opinion or ruling given by an Islamic Legal specialist (mufti) or a group of experts of Islamic Law and that it is never meant for creating “crisis of authority”. Further the fatwa is not based upon the mufti’s own will and ideas, but rendered in accordance with fixed precedents from the sources of Islamic law.
